The Junior Firefighter program is designed to give the
Youngest firefighter an opportunity to find out what the fire service is about. Junior firefighters will learn leadership, teamwork and communication skills as well as building his or her confidence and self esteem. Even though Junior Firefighters are prohibited to enter unsafe environments, their functions are extremely important on incidents and around the firehouse. All members of Presque

Isle Fire Department hold education to the highest level and while the requirements of the program are demanding, education is the number one priority of the program.
Requirements of the program are:

|
Applicant must be between the age of 16 and 18 years old
Must have a diploma/GED or must be enrolled in school to obtain a diploma/GED
Must have and maintain at least a "C" average to apply
Must continue to maintain at least a "C" average to participate
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Junior members also have a curfew during school nights and are required to leave the station no later than 10 pm. On non school nights, members are allowed to stay at the fire station and run calls with the department
